Rule 28-301-35.3 - Oversight ResponsibilitiesThe following are the general responsibilities of the Port Authority during a threat of a tropical storm or hurricane striking near the Port:
A.Executive Department - Declare an emergency, coordinate intergovernmental activities, keep the Board of Commissioners of the Port Authority and the Mississippi Development Authority informed of all ongoing activities, and supervise overall emergency activities.B.Finance & Administration - Maintain the Port Authority's overall administrative functions, human resource functions, and assist the Port Authority's employees' family members.C.Operations & Maintenance - Maintain operations at the deep-water harbor, maintain communications with the U.S. Coast Guard, Harrison County Emergency Management Agency, tenants, and service provider to the Port, monitor weather reports, and implement Hurricane Procedures. Prepare for the threat of the tropical storm or hurricane striking near the Port, and update the status of the tropical storm or hurricane.D.Official MSPA Spokesperson - The official spokesperson for the Port Authority during any emergency is the Executive Director or his or her designee.28 Miss.
