Section 24-8-7-1 - Scope of PracticeA. Licensed Mental Health/Mental Retardation Administrators are licensed to oversee/supervise/ administer the provision of services involving the application of the principles, methods, and procedures of mental health/ mental retardation service within the following:(1) Programs which receive funding from or are programmatically certified/ licensed or administered by the Mississippi Department of Mental Health, which are governed by the Mississippi Board of Mental Health;(2) Programs that provide services to persons with mental illness and/or mental retardation that are designated by the Mississippi Legislature to require professional licensure; or,(3) Programs primarily providing services to individuals with mental illness and/ or mental retardation which are licensed by the Mississippi Department of Health, as well as programmatically certified/licensed by the Mississippi Department of Mental Health.B. This professional licensure does not qualify an individual to provide services outside this scope of practice or in private practice. Practicing beyond the scope of practice may lead to sanctions as described in Chapter 8, Section 4, pp. 31-32 of these regulations.24 Miss. Code. R. § 8-7-1
