Rule 18-17-7.4 - Standard Designation

Standard designation is a minimum quality requirement of all child care providers. All existing providers must have a standard designation prior to October 1, 2019. All new providers must have completed the process prior to CCPP approval. The designation will be renewed no more than once per year. All providers who complete a standard application in good faith will be granted a standard designation. Based on the content of the application, the provider shall be approved without technical assistance (TA) or with TA. TA will be provided at no charge to the provider by the Resource and Referral site technical assistants).

The requirements to receive a standard designation include:

1) Must be licensed, registered, or otherwise license-exempt by the MSDH and
2) All staff must complete the Health and Safety training. Mandatory preservice and ongoing professional development related to early childhood care and development.
3) Delivery of curricula and/or learning activities that are aligned to State Early Learning Guidelines and Standards as adopted by the Mississippi Department of Education (MDE). 4) Engagement in continuous quality improvement.
