Rule 18-14-11.1 - GeneralA. The general work requirements and the ABAWD work requirements have their own set of exemptions.B. The general work requirements apply to non-exempt individuals ages 16 through 59.C. The ABAWD time limit and work requirements apply to non-exempt individuals ages 18 to 55. Per the Fiscal Responsibility Act of 2023 (FRA), the age-based modification exception will sunset on October 1, 2030.D. Thus, ABAWDs would be a special subset of individuals who must meet the general work requirements.E. In addition, ABAWDs are subject to special time limits and must work and/or participate in a work program at least 80 hours per month or average 20 hours a week or participate in and comply with workfare in order to receive SNAP for more than 3 months in a 36- month period unless he or she becomes exempt.F. Participation in SNAP E&T (a funded education and skills training program) is one way an individual can meet the 80 hour per month or average 20 hours a week ABAWD work requirement.G. MDHS has the option to provide qualifying work programs outside of SNAP E&T to ABAWDs.18 Miss. Code. R. 14-11.1
