The commissioner shall suspend the driver's license of a person upon receiving a record of conviction, other than a petty misdemeanor, under Minnesota Statutes, chapter 169, or an ordinance regulating traffic, except traffic laws specifically excluded from the driving record by statute, and department records show that the violation contributed in causing an accident resulting in the death or personal injury of another.
