Part 6232.0800 - [Effective until 1/31/2025] ARCHERY SPECIAL HUNT AREAS AND PROCEDURES
Subpart 1.Procedures.

The special bow and arrow hunt permit application procedure, except the Camp Ripley archery hunt, is described in this subpart.

A. Hunters must send a stamped, self-addressed business-sized envelope to the headquarters of the appropriate special bow hunt unit with a request for the application form and instructions. A person may not apply more than once for a hunt, whether as an individual or as a member of a group.
B. Up to four persons may apply as a group by mailing all applications in one envelope. Either the entire group will be selected by the drawing or none will be selected.
C. Incomplete or improperly completed applications will be rejected.
D. The application deadline for special hunts is the first Thursday following Labor Day.
E. Hunters may not apply for more than one of the hunts conducted in the Hennepin County Park system.
Subp. 2.Areas.

Archery special hunt permits are valid in areas designated by the commissioner. Unless otherwise specified, hunters must possess a valid archery special hunt permit for the archery special hunt areas under this subpart. In addition to complying with the requirements of this part, hunters who are hunting under an archery special hunt permit must meet any requirements of the municipality, park, or area in which the special hunt occurs and of any sponsoring organization. Hunt participants must stay within any boundaries that are prescribed by the sponsoring organization, by maps provided during a prehunt orientation, or by posting. The following archery special hunt areas are established for the 2024 season:

A. portions of the Pin Oak Prairie Scientific and Natural Area in Fillmore County are open October 1 to November 30 for taking antlerless deer and legal bucks. No more than eight permits shall be issued. The bag limit is five deer. This is special hunt 926;
B. portions of Carleton State Game Refuge and Arboretum in Dakota and Rice Counties are open November 28 to December 31 for antlerless deer and legal bucks in an earn-a-buck hunt. No more than 40 permits shall be issued. Hunters must obtain written permission from the landowner. The bag limit is five deer. This is special hunt 972;
C. J.C. Hormel Nature Center and portions of the city of Austin in Mower County are open October 1 to December 31 for taking antlerless deer and legal bucks in an earn-a-buck hunt. No more than 50 permits shall be issued. The bag limit is three deer. This is special hunt 973;
D. portions of the Vermillion Highlands Research, Recreation, and Wildlife Management Area in Dakota County are open September 14 to November 1 for taking antlerless deer and legal bucks. No more than 60 permits shall be issued. The bag limit is three deer. This is special hunt 975;
E. portions of the city of New Ulm in Brown County are open October 12 to December 31 for taking antlerless deer and legal bucks in a double earn-a-buck hunt. Hunters must register two antlerless deer before harvesting a legal buck. No more than 56 permits shall be issued. The bag limit is three deer. This is special hunt 976;
F. portions of the city of Red Wing in Goodhue County are open September 14 to December 31 for taking antlerless deer and legal bucks. Portions of Red Wing as identified on maps provided by the hunt administrator are an earn-a-buck hunt. Permits to hunt are unlimited. The bag limit is five deer. This is special hunt 977;
G. portions of the city of Redwood Falls in Redwood County are open September 14 to December 31 for taking antlerless deer and legal bucks in a double earn-a-buck hunt. Hunters must register two antlerless deer before harvesting a legal buck. No more than 20 permits shall be issued. The bag limit is three deer. This is special hunt 978;
H. portions of the city of Duluth in St. Louis County are open September 14 to December 31 for taking antlerless deer and legal bucks. No more than 400 permits shall be issued. The bag limit is three deer. This is special hunt 980;
I. portions of the city of Mankato in Blue Earth County are open September 14 to December 31 for taking antlerless deer and legal bucks in an earn-a-buck hunt. No more than 40 permits shall be issued. The bag limit is five deer. This is special hunt 981;
J. portions of the city of Granite Falls in Yellow Medicine County are open September 14 to December 31 for taking antlerless deer only. No more than ten permits shall be issued. The bag limit is one deer. This is special hunt 982;
K. portions of the city of Ortonville in Big Stone County are open September 14 to December 31 for taking antlerless deer and legal bucks in an earn-a-buck hunt. No more than 30 permits shall be issued. The bag limit is five deer. This is special hunt 983;
L. portions of the city of Canby in Yellow Medicine County are open September 14 to December 31 for taking antlerless deer only. No more than 20 permits shall be issued. The bag limit is two deer. This is special hunt 984;
M. portions of the city of Bemidji in Beltrami County as identified on maps provided by the hunt administrator are open September 14 to December 31 for taking antlerless deer and legal bucks. No more than 22 permits for the northeast hunt area and 22 permits for the west hunt area shall be issued. The bag limit is five deer. This is special hunt 985;
N. portions of Bemidji Regional Airport in Beltrami County are open September 14 to December 31 for taking antlerless deer and legal bucks. No more than 20 permits shall be issued. The bag limit is five deer. This is special hunt 986;
O. portions of the Greenleaf State Recreation Area in Meeker County are open September 14 to December 31 for taking antlerless deer and legal bucks. Special permits are not required. The bag limit is one deer, and regulations for deer permit area 285 apply. This is special hunt 987;
P. portions of the city of Owatonna in Steele County are open October 20 to November 17 and November 18 to December 15 for taking antlerless deer and legal bucks in an earn-a-buck hunt. No more than 34 permits shall be issued. The bag limit is five deer. This is special hunt 990;
Q. portions of the city of Hallock in Kittson County are open September 14 to December 31 for taking antlerless deer only. No more than 15 permits shall be issued. The bag limit is two deer. This is special hunt 992;
R. portions of the city of Grand Rapids in Itasca County are open September 14 to December 31 for taking antlerless deer and legal bucks. Individuals authorized to hunt the archery season may hunt the open areas without a special permit. The bag limit is five deer. Disease management permits may be used to take antlerless deer during this special hunt. Deer taken during this special hunt must be submitted within 24 hours of harvest for chronic wasting disease testing at a sampling station designated by the hunt administrator. This is special hunt 995;
S. portions of the city of Red Lake Falls in Red Lake County are open September 14 to December 31 for taking antlerless deer only. No more than ten permits shall be issued. The bag limit is one deer. This is special hunt 998;
T. portions of the city of Lake Benton in Lincoln County are open September 14 to December 31 for taking antlerless deer and legal bucks in an earn-a-buck hunt. No more than 40 permits shall be issued. The bag limit is two deer. This is special hunt 924;
U. portions of the city of Blue Earth in Faribault County are open September 14 to December 31 for taking antlerless deer and legal bucks in an earn-a-buck hunt. No more than 20 permits shall be issued. The bag limit is two deer. This is special hunt 897;
V. portions of the city of Two Harbors in Lake County are open September 14 to December 31 for taking antlerless deer and legal bucks in an earn-a-buck hunt. No more than 15 permits shall be issued. The bag limit is two deer. This is special hunt 896;
W. portions of the city of Warroad in Roseau County are open September 14 to December 31 for taking antlerless deer and legal bucks. No more than ten permits shall be issued. The bag limit is five deer. This is special hunt 974;
X. portions of the Carver Rapids and Thompson Ferry Units of the Minnesota Valley State Recreation Area in Scott County are open September 14 to December 31 for taking antlerless deer and legal bucks. Permits to hunt are unlimited. The bag limit is five deer. This is special hunt 979;
Y. portions of the Lake Tamarack Unit of the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum in Carver County are open October 26 to November 10 for taking antlerless deer and legal bucks in an earn-a-buck hunt. No more than two permits shall be issued. The bag limit is two deer. This is special hunt 895;
Z. portions of the city of Jackson in Jackson County are open September 14 to December 31 for taking antlerless deer only. Individuals authorized to hunt the archery season may hunt the open areas without a special permit. The bag limit is two deer. This is special hunt 928;
AA. portions of the city of Baxter in Crow Wing County are open September 14 to December 31 for taking antlerless deer and legal bucks. Permits to hunt are unlimited. The bag limit is five deer. This is special hunt 989;
BB. portions of the city of Windom in Cottonwood County are open September 14 to December 31 for taking antlerless deer only. No more than 15 permits shall be issued. The bag limit is two deer. This is special hunt 970; and
CC. portions of the city of East Grand Forks are open November 15 to November 24 for taking antlerless deer and legal bucks as described on individual permits. No more than ten permits shall be issued, consisting of nine antlerless permits and one either-sex permit. The bag limit is one deer. This is special hunt 996.
