Section R. 431.3040 - Paddock judge; dutiesRule 3040. The paddock judge shall have general supervision over the paddock and be responsible for all of the following:
(a) Keeping accurate records of all equipment a horse carried in the horse's previous race. Change in the equipment is permitted only with the consent of the stewards.(b) Assembling the horses and jockeys in the paddock not less than 15 minutes before the scheduled post time for the race, unless otherwise determined by the stewards.(c) Assuring that the saddling of all horses is orderly, open to public view where possible, and free from interference, and assuring that horses are mounted at the same time and leave the paddock for the post in proper sequence.(d) Reporting to assigned security guards the presence of any unauthorized persons in the paddock.(e) Promptly reporting all rule violations to the stewards.(f) Inspecting the bandages of a horse.(g) Inspecting the feet of a horse.(h) Paddock schooling and the paddock schooling list.(i) The presence or absence of trainers in the paddock as required.Mich.
