(1) Before being offered to licensees, a course and its instructors in enteral sedation must be approved by the board and, at a minimum, the course objectives, content, duration, evaluation, documentation, and faculty must be consistent with the enteral sedation course standards in the ADA's "Guidelines for Teaching Pain Control and Sedation to Dentists and Dental Students," October 2016, whose guidelines are adopted by reference by the board. The guidelines may be obtained at no cost from the American Dental Association, 211 E. Chicago Avenue, Chicago, Illinois, 60611 or at no cost on the association's website at http://www.ada.org. A copy of the guidelines is available for inspection and distribution, at 10 cents per page, from the Michigan Board of Dentistry, Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, Bureau of Professional Licensing, 611 West Ottawa, P.O. Box 30670, Lansing, Michigan, 48909.(2) A program or course that is certified by CODA as meeting the ADA's standards for advanced training in anesthesia and pain control and training in intravenous conscious sedation in the publication titled "Guidelines for Teaching Pain Control and Sedation to Dentists and Dental Students," October 2016 edition, is approved by the board.Mich.
