Section R. 400.14510 - Heating equipment generallyRule 510.
(1) Heat shall be provided by an approved central heating plant or a permanently installed electrical heating system that is approved by a nationally recognized testing laboratory that use acceptable testing methods.(2) A furnace, water heater, heating appliances, pipes, wood-burning stoves and furnaces, and other flame- or heat-producing equipment shall be installed in a fixed or permanent manner and in accordance with a manufacturer's instructions and shall be maintained in a safe condition.(3) Where conditions indicate a need for inspection, heat-producing equipment shall be inspected by a qualified inspection service. A copy of the written approval from the qualified inspection service shall be submitted to the department and a copy shall be maintained in the adult foster care small group home and shall be available for department review.(4) Hot water pipes and steam radiators that are located in resident-occupied areas shall be shielded to protect against burns.(5) Portable heating units shall not be permitted.Mich.
