Section R. 408.12736 - Jointers and planers; generalRule 2736.
(1) Each hand fed planer and jointer with a horizontal or vertical head shall have a cylindrical cutting head, the knife projection of which shall not extend more than 1/8-inch beyond the cylindrical body of the head.(2) Square cutting heads shall not be used on jointers and planers.(3) The opening in the jointer table shall be kept as small as possible. The clearance between the edge of the rear table and the cutter head shall be not more than 1/8- inch. The table throat opening shall be not more than 2 1/2 inches when tables are set or aligned for zero cut.(4) A proper push block shall be used when jointing short or narrow stock.Mich. Admin.
