Section R. 325.2141 - InletsRule 41.
(1) A swimming pool owner shall ensure that a swimming pool water inlet system has inlets adequate in design, number, and location to ensure uniform distribution of treated water throughout the swimming pool.(2) A swimming pool owner shall ensure that an inlet meets all of the following requirements: (a) Is equipped for flow rate adjustment.(b) Does not extend from the swimming pool wall or floor so as to create a hazard.(c) Is not less than 12 inches below the water level or is not less than 6 inches below the water level and designed to direct the flow downward.(3) A swimming pool owner shall ensure that a pool has the following number of inlets: (a) Not less than 2 inlets.(b) Not less than 1 inlet per 20 lineal feet of swimming pool periphery, except at a river ride pool.(c) More inlets than required in subdivision (a) or (b) of this subrule if necessary for the uniform circulation of water.(4) A swimming pool owner shall ensure that the location of inlets for a swimming pool other than a river ride pool or a water slide pool is as follows: (a) For a wall inlet system, inlets shall be spaced not more than 20 feet apart as measured along the swimming pool wall.(b) For a floor inlet system, inlets shall be uniformly spaced not more than 20 feet apart and there shall be an inlet not more than 15 feet from each wall.(c) Where water circulation might be impaired, there shall be at least 1 inlet located in each recessed stairwell, underwater seat, or other space.(5) A river ride pool or water slide pool owner shall provide a pool with 1 or more inlets adequate in number and location to provide and maintain flow rates and water quality in accordance with R 325.2194.Mich.
