(1) "Basement offset" means a below grade well room or pump room which has walls and a floor that are constructed of concrete or its equivalent, which is reasonably watertight, and which is attached directly to, and drained into, an approved basement in a manner that provides access for the maintenance of water supply system components.(2) "Bedrock" means consolidated and continuous geologic material, such as limestone, dolomite, shale, sandstone, basalt, or granite.(3) "Bentonite" means a plastic, colloidal clay which has an extensive ability to absorb fresh water and swell in volume and which is composed predominantly of the mineral montmorillonite.(4) "Bentonite chips" means bentonite that is crushed to an approximate size range of 3/8 to 3/4 of an inch.(5) "Bentonite grout" means a slurry which consists of bentonite and water and which has a high solids concentration and a minimum density that meets specifications approved by the department. A slurry of drilling fluid bentonite and water or drilled cuttings, either singularly or in combination, is not bentonite grout.(6) "Bentonite pellets" means bentonite that has been processed into pellet or tablet form with a diameter of 1/4 to 1/2 of an inch.Mich.
