Section 14.35.08.02 - Definitions

A. In this subtitle, the following terms have the meanings indicated.

B. Terms Defined.

(1) "Appointment" has the meaning stated in Insurance Article, § 1-101(f), Annotated Code of Maryland.

(2) "Captive Producer" means an insurance producer who:

(a) Is licensed in the State and authorized by the Commissioner to sell, solicit, or negotiate health insurance;

(b) Receives an authorization and meets the other requirements set forth in Insurance Article, § 31-113(n)(2), Annotated Code of Maryland;

(c) Holds a current and exclusive appointment with a single carrier; and

(d) Receives compensation as a captive producer only from that carrier.

(3) "Commissioner" means the Maryland Insurance Commissioner.

(4) "Individual Exchange" or "Exchange" has the meaning stated in Insurance Article, § 31-101(h), Annotated Code of Maryland.
