Section 10.54.03.06 - Food Packages for Peer Group Price CalculationA. The State agency shall group the food items on the vendor price list form into the following food packages: (1) Foods for an infant 4 months old or older but younger than 13 months old: (a) 31 13-fluid-ounce cans of concentrated liquid infant formula with iron as specified in the WIC infant formula rebate contract;(b) 24 ounces of dry infant cereal; and(c) 128 ounces of infant vegetables and fruit;(2) Foods for a child 1 year old or older but younger than 5 years old: (a) 3 gallons and 1 quart of fluid milk;(c) 36 ounces of dry cereal;(d) 128 fluid ounces of single-strength canned juice;(e) 18 ounces of peanut butter;(f) 1 pound of cheese; and(g) 2 pounds of whole wheat bread, brown rice, or soft corn tortillas;(3) Foods for a breastfeeding woman: (a) 5 gallons and 1 quart of fluid milk;(c) 36 ounces of dry cereal;(d) 36 ounces frozen juice concentrate;(e) 18 ounces of peanut butter;(g) 30 ounces of tuna, salmon, or sardines; and(h) 16 ounces of dried beans; and(4) Foods for a nonbreast feeding, postpartum woman: (a) 3 gallons and 1 quart of fluid milk;(c) 36 ounces of dry cereal;(d) 24 fluid ounces of single-strength frozen juice concentrate; andB. The State agency shall calculate monthly the peer group average in Peer Groups 1 - 18 for each food package set forth in §A of this regulation by adding together the average food instrument price and average cost of food items that make up a food package and dividing that sum by the total number of food store and food store/pharmacy combination vendors in the region.C. The State agency shall provide, upon request, the current peer group average in Peer Groups 1 - 19 for each food package in §A of this regulation.D. The State agency shall compile the peer group averages for the food packages in §A of this regulation based upon redemption data provided by the WIC Management Information System.Md.
