Section 250-156-3 - POLICE ESCORT ARRANGEMENTS

1. STATE POLICE ESCORTS

A. Overdimensional loads requiring a State Police Escort(s) will be assessed at the actual cost of services including a two (2) hour minimum hourly vehicle cost.

B. The minimum charge for the escort will be for four (4) hours which will be billed by the Department of Public Safety. The billable time will start at the agreed upon posted time and end at the conclusion of the escort.

C. To procure State Police Escorts, the permittee must make arrangements with the Maine State Police directly at least three working days prior to the date the move is to be made.

D. Permits requiring State Police Escorts generally will not be issued for Saturdays.

2. OTHER POLICE ESCORTS

A. The Permittee may make arrangements with local police or county sheriffs for police escorts when State Police escorts are not required.
