Section 219-4-3-A - Roles and responsibilities of Responsible Managing Supervisors
1. The responsible managing supervisor or any duly authorized representative acting on his behalf shall bear all responsibilities contained in this subsection and the statutes of the State of Maine.
2. The responsible managing supervisor, or duly authorized representative who is acting on behalf of the responsible managing supervisor, shall personally appear at the site of the installation and verify correct installation of the system.
(A) Verification by the responsible managing supervisor or duly authorized representative shall at a minimum occur upon completion of rough pipe installation and acceptance testing of the completed system.
3.Qualifications of responsible managing supervisor duly authorized representative
(A) Any person acting as the duly authorized representative of a responsible managing supervisor under this section shall demonstrate experience and knowledge through one of the following means:
(1) At least five years of continuous experience installing sprinkler systems.
(2) Certification at the NICET II or NICET III level through the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies in inspection and testing of water based systems.
(3) Certification at the NICET II or NICET III level through the National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies in water based fire protection system layout.
4.Registration of duly authorized representatives by responsible managing supervisors
(A) Upon application of renewal, or at any other time during the licensing period for annual licensing, the responsible managing supervisor shall provide a list of duly authorized representatives to the Office of the State Fire Marshal along with written documentation of qualifications required in section 3.
5. Written documentation of fire sprinkler installation verification shall be provided to the Office of the State Fire Marshal within 30 days of completion of installation.
