Section 144-700-2.0 - Definitions

As used in this section, unless the context otherwise indicates, the following terms have the following meanings.

A. "Authorized Representative" means parent, guardian or guardian ad litem, or other person authorized by the parent or guardian to act as a representative.
B. "Maine CDC" means the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Department of Health and Human Services.
C. "Deceased person" means a woman who died during pregnancy or within 42 days of giving birth or a child who died within 1 year of birth.
D. "Director" means the director of the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Department of Health and Human Services.
E. "Family" means a woman who has experienced a fetal death, or the parent or parents or other authorized representative of a deceased person.
F. "Panel" means the maternal, fetal and infant death review panel established under this section.
G. "Panel Coordinator" means an employee of the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention who is appointed by the Director, or a person(s) designated by the Panel
H. The "Panel Coordinator" must be a licensed physician or registered nurse or other health care professional licensed or registered in this State. The Panel Coordinator provides administrative oversight and project management and support for the Maine Maternal and Infant Mortality Review Panel.
I. "Home Interviewer" means a person under the direction and at the discretion of the Panel Coordinator who shall meet the requirements for Panel Coordinator and have professional training or experience in bereavement services.
J. "Hospital" means any facility licensed under the provisions of Title 22 of the Maine Revised Statutes, which provides health careservices.
K. "Specialty Provider" means those persons licensed pursuant to Title 32 of the Maine Revised Statutes who have additional certification by or eligibility for one of the disciplines of the American boards of certification and who are registered and certified by the appropriate specialty boards.
L. The "Medical Director" means an employee of the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention who is a licensed physician within the State of Maine who shall oversee Panel operations and Panel appointments.
M. "State Health Officer" means the Director of the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention.
