Section 144-325-IV - ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTSTo qualify for a grant, an individual or family representative must
1 Have made application to all applicable available governmental disaster assistance programs for assistance to meet necessary expenses or serious needs, and have been determined not qualified for such assistance or have demonstrated that the assistance received did not meet the total necessary expenses or serious needs.2 Not have previously received or refused assistance from other sources to meet needs for which application is now made under the program described herein.3 Agree to refund to the state that part of the grant for which assistance from other sources is received or which is not spent as identified in the purchase order. Individuals or families who incur a necessary expense or have a serious need and for whom all other government assistance is unavailable or inadequate in a major disaster may be eligible for assistance under this program without regard to alienage. However, their residence must have been located within the major disaster area of the State of Maine at the time of the April 1987 flood.
