Section 096-884-3 - Designation of cadmium as a priority chemical
A.Presence on chemicals of high concern list.Cadmiumis present on the list of chemicals of high concern published by the department under 38 M.R.S.A.§1693-A.

B.Criteria for designation.The following criteria for designation of cadmium as a priority chemical, as set forth under 38 M.R.S.A. §1694,have been met:
(1) Cadmium is known to cause cancer in humans and other known adverse health effectsand has met the criteria listed in § 1693(1) and 1693-A(2) for listing as a chemical of concern and chemical of high concern respectively;
(2) Cadmium has been found through biomonitoring to be present in humans;
(3) Cadmium is known to remain in human organs for multiple years after absorption, making exposures cumulative;
(4) Cadmium has been found through sampling and analysis to be present in household dust, indoor air, drinking water or elsewhere in the home environment; and
(5) Cadmium is present in a consumer product used or present in the home.
