Section 096-263-6 - FEES
A.Payment
1. When a laboratory requests accreditation in Maine, the laboratory must submit all applicable fees with the application.
2. All applications or requests to change the scope of accreditation must be accompanied by the applicable fees specified in this section.
3. Application fees apply to the addition of methods for reinstatement after revocation or denial of accreditation.
4. No fee will be assessed for the addition of fields of testing in response to a notice of availability when an application is submitted under the conditions specified in Section 4, or for the addition of analytes to a test method which the laboratory maintains accreditation.
5. Payment of fees must be in the form of a check or money order, made payable to the ''Treasurer, State of Maine.''
B.Fee table
1. The total biennial accreditation fee includes the base fee, the test method fees, and when applicable, the on-site inspection fee. Accreditation may be awarded biennially or annually.
a. The accreditation fees include the following:
(i) Base accreditation fee of $1,250 (for both biennial and annual accreditation); and
(ii) Test method category accreditation fees are reduced by half for annual accreditation.

b. Limited laboratory accreditation may be granted for laboratories reporting no more than a total of five analytes for no more than two methods. The limited laboratory accreditation fee is $850 for biennial or annual accreditation.
c. The environmental lead program fee is $600 for biennial or annual accreditation.
2. A change fee of $50 will be assessed if a laboratory requests additional methods at any time other than when applying for, or renewing, its certification.
3. Refunds or credits will not be made for analytes or methods requested but not approved.
4. Accreditation of a laboratory will not be awarded until all fees are paid.
5. The MLAP will assess a fee for an on-site inspection for out-of-state laboratories. This fee will be based on the established hourly rate of the laboratory accreditation officer inclusive of preparation time, travel time and inspection time, as well as associated travel expenses (transportation, meals, lodging and other associated travel expenses) incurred. The minimum fee assessed will be $1,500 and the maximum fee will be $3,750.
