Section 285-2-1 - National Examination

A veterinary student can apply to take the national examination during the student's final year of veterinary school, prior to receipt of a degree. The application consists of the following items:

1. A completed examination application form and the fees required by Chapter 10, Section 4(40) of the rules of the Office of Licensing and Registration, entitled "Establishment of License Fees;"
2. An official transcript from the school of veterinary medicine from which the applicant graduated. If the applicant has not graduated at time of application, the applicant may submit a letter of intent from the dean of the college in lieu of the transcript.
3. If the qualifying degree is from a school that was not accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association ("AVMA") Council on Education at the time the degree was awarded, proof of successful completion of either the Program for Assessment of Veterinary Education Equivalence ("PAVE") administered by the American Association of Veterinary State Boards ("AAVSB") or the Educational Commission for Foreign Veterinary Graduates ("ECFVG") certification program administered by the AVMA.
