Section 001-12-1 - DefinitionsAs used in this chapter and unless the context otherwise indicates, the following words shall have the following meanings:
A. Agricultural fair. "Agricultural fair" means a bona fide exhibition designed to promote education and encourage improvement in agriculture and shall include, but not be limited to, the following components distributed throughout the duration of the exhibition: 1. Competition for premiums or purses on three or more species of livestock; "species' could be equine, bovine, poultry or other;2. Display of and competition for premiums or purses on horticultural products of a variety and quality characteristic of the region and date; and3. Presentation of activities and projects undertaken by agricultural youth organizations in the region.B. Applicant. "Applicant" means the person, agricultural society, association or corporation applying for a license to conduct an agricultural fair pursuant to 7 M.R.S.A. §65. C. Commissioner. "Commissioner" means the Commissioner of Agriculture, Food and Rural Resources or his authorized agent. D. Licensee. "Licensee" means a person, agricultural society, association or corporation licensed pursuant to 7 M.R.S.A. §65 to conduct an agricultural fair.01-001 C.M.R. ch. 12, § 1
