Section XI-3101 - Definitions
A. When used in this Part, the following words shall have the meanings as indicated.

Ambulance-any enclosed or open vehicle for carrying sick or injured persons operated as part of a regular course of conduct or business for any such purpose.

First Aid Certificate-a certificate in the Advanced First Aid and Emergency Care Course issued by the American National Red Cross or to any certificate issued by the Bureau of Mines wherein it is stated that the person to whom it is issued has successfully completed the required training and met the established standards of such organizations.

Certified Emergency Medical Technician-any person who has successfully completed an 81 hour basic emergency medical technician training course approved by the Department of Transportation and Department of Health and Human Resources and is currently state certified by the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners.

Certified Advanced Emergency Medical Technician-any person who has successfully completed an advanced emergency medical technician training course approved by the Department of Transportation, the Department of Health and Human Resources and the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners and is currently state certified by the Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners. However, all or any part of the required training program may be waived by the Department of Health and Human Resources if the applicant has documentation for an equivalent level of training and successfully completes the performance and written examinations required for certification.
