Section XV-1309 - Exploration or Development on Land Designated as Unsuitable for Surface Coal Mining OperationsA. Designation of any area as unsuitable for all or certain types of surface coal mining operations pursuant to §922 of the Act and regulations of this Subpart does not prohibit coal exploration or development operations in the area, if conducted in accordance with the Act, these regulations or a federal program and other applicable requirements. Exploration or development operations on any lands designated unsuitable for surface coal mining operations must be approved by the office under Chapter 21, to insure that exploration or development does not interfere with any value for which the area has been designated unsuitable for surface coal mining.La.
