Section XV-431 - Conditions Requiring Individual Monitoring of External and Internal Occupational DoseA. Each licensee or registrant shall monitor exposures from sources of radiation at levels sufficient to demonstrate compliance with the occupational dose limits of this Chapter. Each licensee or registrant shall monitor occupational exposure to radiation and shall supply and require the use of individual monitoring devices by: 1. adults likely to receive, in one year from sources external to the body, a dose in excess of 10 percent of the limits specified in LAC 33:XV.410.A;2. minors and declared pregnant women likely to receive, in one year from sources external to the body, a dose in excess of 10 percent of any of the applicable limits specified in LAC 33:XV.416 or 417;3. individuals entering a "high" or "very high" radiation area; and4. individuals working with medical fluoroscopic equipment, who will locate monitoring devices as follows: a. an individual monitoring device used to determine the dose equivalent to an embryo/fetus of a declared pregnant woman, in accordance with LAC 33:XV.417, shall be located under the protective apron at the waist;b. an individual monitoring device used to determine lens dose equivalent shall be located at the neck, or an unshielded location closer to the eye, outside the protective apron; andc. when only one individual monitoring device is issued to determine the effective dose equivalent for external radiation in accordance with LAC 33:XV.410.D, it shall be located at the neck outside the protective apron. When a second individual monitoring device is used for the same purpose, it shall be located under the protective apron at the waist. The second individual monitoring device is required for a declared pregnant woman.B. Each licensee or registrant shall monitor, to determine compliance with LAC 33:XV.413, the occupational intake of radioactive material by and assess the committed effective dose equivalent (CEDE) to: 1. adults likely to receive, in one year, an intake in excess of 10 percent of the applicable ALI in Table I, Columns 1 and 2, of LAC 33:XV.499.Appendix B; and2. minors and declared pregnant women likely to receive, in one year, a committed effective dose equivalent in excess of 0.5 mSv (0.05 rem).La.
