Section CXXXIX-1501 - Renewal of CharterA. At the conclusion of a charter school's fifth year of operation and the expiration of its initial charter contract, a charter operator no longer has a continuing right to operate a charter school.B. No charter shall be renewed unless the charter can demonstrate, at a minimum, using standardized test scores, improvement in the academic performance of students over the term of the charter school's existence. For BESE-authorized charter schools, such improvement shall be evaluated by the department using appropriate data and the standards for renewal provided for in this chapter.C. A charter may be renewed for additional periods of not less than three nor more than 10 years after thorough review by the approving chartering authority of the charter school's operations and compliance with charter requirements.La.
