Section CXV-1124 - Parental Involvement for Exceptional Students [Formerly Section 1903]A. Each LEA shall take whatever action is necessary to ensure parental participation as required by federal, state, and local guidelines in the development of the IEP for exceptional students.B. Communication from the school to the parent shall be as follows: 2. in language understandable to the general public;3. in the native language of the parent or other mode of communication used by the parent when possible; and/or4. communicated orally (when necessary) in the native language or other mode of communication so that the parent understands the content of such communication.C. Full and effective notice communicated from the LEA to the parent of an exceptional student or a student thought to be exceptional shall also include the following: 1. a full explanation of all the procedural safeguards available to the parents, including confidentiality requirements;2. a description of the proposed (or refused) action, an explanation of the reasons for such actions, and a description of any options that were considered and rejected;3. a description of each evaluation procedure, type of test, record or report used as a basis for the action, and any other relevant factors; and4. identification of the employee or employees of the school system who may be contacted.La.
