Section CLXIX-101 - IntroductionA. The Louisiana student standards define what a public school student should know or be able to accomplish at the end of a specific time period or grade level or at the completion of a course. They represent the knowledge and skills needed for students to successfully transition from each grade and ultimately to postsecondary education and the workplace, as determined by content experts, elementary and secondary educators and school leaders, postsecondary education leaders, and business and industry leaders. The standards set forth what learning should be taught; local education agencies, their school leaders and classroom educators should determine how the standards should be taught, including the curricula and instructional materials that should be used to meet students individual needs in mastering the standards.
