Section I-181 - Title to Remains and CompensationA. Superior title to all objects recovered from underwater sites located within the river systems, tidelands, submerged lands, or offshore waters falling under the jurisdiction of the state of Louisiana shall be retained by the state. Under certain conditions allowed by R.S. 41:1606 and as approved in advance by the commission, a reasonable percentage of the recovered remains may be allocated to the contractor as fair compensation for their salvage.La.
