Section XV-1365 - Preparing the Child Client for HearingsA. The attorney should explain to the child client, in a developmentally appropriate manner, what is expected to happen before, during and after each hearing.B. The attorney should advise the client as to suitable courtroom dress and demeanor. If the client is detained, the attorney should consider requesting the client's appearance unshackled and unchained. The attorney should also be alert to the possible prejudicial effects of the client appearing before the court in jail or other inappropriate clothing.C.
