Section 97-2-2a - Comfort money

Comfort money shall mean a protected amount of each member's income that is not used in determining the member's charges and is held for the member's use, benefit, and burial. The amount of comfort money shall be annually determined by the commission at its November meeting and shall become effective on February 1 of the following year. Each member shall be given written notice by that member's superintendent, within 45 days after the commission's November meeting, of the amount of comfort money authorized by the commission.
