Section 82-1-237 - Investigation and hearing
(a) Any public utility, common carrier, motor carrier, or any other party under the commission's jurisdiction may be investigated and hearings or show cause proceedings may be ordered by the commission at any time, upon its own motion if the commission believes that the party under its jurisdiction is in violation of law or of any order of the commission.
(b) Other investigations as are required or authorized by law may be instituted by the commission as deemed necessary.
(c) Evidence considered necessary or desirable in any formal proceeding, in addition to the evidence presented by the parties, may be secured and presented by the commission if deemed necessary.
