Section 28-35-363 - Appendix A; training courses for logging supervisors; subjects
(a) Each training course for logging supervisors shall cover the fundamentals of radiation safety, including:
(1) characteristics of radiation;
(2) units of radiation dose and quantity of radioactivity; and
(3) significance of radiation dose, including;
(A) radiation protection standards; and
(B) biological effects of radiation dose;
(4) levels of radiation from sources of radiation;
(5) methods of minimizing radiation dose, including:
(A) working time;
(B) working distances; and
(C) shielding; and
(6) radiation safety practices, including prevention of contamination and methods of decontamination.
(b) Each training course for logging supervisors shall cover radiation detection instrumentation to be used, including:
(1) use of radiation survey instruments, including training as to their:
(A) operation;
(B) calibration; and
(C) limitations;
(2) survey techniques; and
(3) use of personnel monitoring equipment.
(c) Each training course for logging supervisors shall cover the equipment to be used, including:
(1) handling equipment;
(2) sources of radiation;
(3) storage and control of equipment; and
(4) operation and control of equipment.
(d) Each training course for logging supervisors shall include:
(1) the requirements of pertinent federal and state regulations;
(2) the licensee's or registrant's written operating and emergency procedures; and
(3) the licensee's or registrant's record-keeping procedures.
