Section 105-21-1 - QualificationsEach public defender shall be an attorney licensed to practice law in Kansas and shall be selected on the basis of merit. Primary qualifications shall be:
(a) demonstrated commitment to the provision of quality legal representation for eligible persons charged with or convicted of criminal conduct; (b) demonstrated ability to properly administer a law office of similar size and responsibility to that of the public defender office; and (c) demonstrated knowledge of criminal law and effective ability to provide actual representation.
