Rule 875-218.206 - Primary duty(1) The definition of "administrative" exempts only employees who are primarily engaged in the responsible work which is characteristic of employment in a bona fide administrative capacity. Thus, the employee must have as primary duty office or nonmanual work directly related to management policies or general business operations of the employer or the employer's customers, or, in the case of "academic administrative personnel," the employee must have as primary duty work that is directly related to academic administration or general academic operations of the school in whose operations the employee is employed.Iowa Admin.
