Sec. 2.
(a) The maximum water depth in public spas shall be four (4) feet. The maximum water depth at any seat shall be two (2) feet from the waterline.(b) Approved handholds shall be provided at the perimeter of spas which exceed three (3) feet six (6) inches in depth. Such handholds shall consist of any of the following: (1) Coping, ledges, or flanges which provide a rounded, slip-resistant surface of one and one-fourth (1 1/4) to two (2) inches in diameter which are not more than twelve (12) inches above the waterline.(2) Ladders, steps, or seat ledges.(3) A railing with a diameter between one and one-fourth (1 1/4) and two (2) inches diameter which is not more than twelve (12) inches above the waterline.(4) A combination of the above.(c) Public spas shall not be less than one thousand (1,000) gallons in volume.(d) The slope of the floor of the spa shall not exceed one (1) in twelve (12).Fire Prevention and Building Safety Commission; 675 IAC 20-3-2; filed Aug 14, 1989, 9:00 a.m.: 13 IR 59, eff Sep 1, 1989 [IC 4-22-2-36 suspends the effectiveness of a rule document for thirty 30 days after filing with the secretary of state.
