Section 410 IAC 6-8.3-69 - Barrier materials

Sec. 69.

(a) The physical characteristics of barrier materials shall have the following minimum average roll values:
(1) A grab tensile strength equal to or greater than eighty (80) pounds in machine direction (MD) and cross-machine direction (CD) in accordance with ASTM D 4632-15a (2023).
(2) A grab tensile elongation at break of equal to or greater than fifty percent (50%) in MD and CD in accordance with ASTM D 4632-15a (2023).
(3) A trapezoidal tear strength equal to or greater than thirty (30) pounds in MD and CD in accordance with ASTM D 4533-15.
(4) A CBR puncture resistance equal to or greater than one hundred seventy-five (175) pounds in accordance with ASTM D 6241-22a.
(5) A permittivity of equal to or greater than 0.5 sec-1 in accordance with ASTM D 4491-22.
(6) A water flow rate equal to or greater than one hundred fifty (150) gallons per minute per square foot in accordance with ASTM D 4355-21.
(7) A UV resistance at five hundred (500) hours equal to or greater than seventy percent (70%) strength retained in accordance with ASTM D 4491-22.
(8) An apparent opening size (U.S. Sieve) equal to or greater than forty (40), and equal to or less than seventy (70) sieve in accordance with ASTM D 4751-21a.
(b) The chemical characteristics of barrier materials shall be:
(1) nonbiodegradable;
(2) resistant to acids and alkalies within a pH range of four (4) to ten (10); and
(3) resistant to common solvents.
