Sec. 19.
(a) Written policy, procedure, and practice provide that each facility has outdoor, indoor covered, or indoor enclosed areas with enough space to allow each juvenile to have one (1) hour of daily large muscle recreation activity.(b) Regardless of facility size, any renovation, addition, or new construction after 2022 of outdoor or indoor, covered or enclosed, or both, recreation areas must provide at least fifteen (15) square feet of unencumbered space per juvenile for the number of juveniles who may use the space at the same time.(c) For facilities where one hundred (100) or more juveniles utilize one (1) recreation area, any renovation, addition, or new construction after 2022 of recreation areas must meet the following criteria:(1) Outdoor recreation space has not less than one thousand five hundred (1,500) square feet of unencumbered space.(2) Indoor, covered or enclosed, or both, recreation space has not less than one thousand (1,000) square feet of unencumbered space and a ceiling height of at least eighteen (18) feet.(d) For facilities where less than one hundred (100) juveniles utilize one (1) recreation area, any renovation, addition, or new construction after 2022 of recreation areas must meet the following criteria: (1) Outdoor recreation space has not less than seven hundred fifty (750) square feet of unencumbered space.(2) Indoor, covered or enclosed, or both, recreation space has not less than five hundred (500) square feet of unencumbered space and a ceiling height of at least eighteen (18) feet.Department of Correction; 210 IAC 8-4-19; filed 9/16/2022, 3:13 p.m.: 20221012-IR-210220072FRA
