Section 686.705 - Criteria for the Purchase, Rental, or Repair of Assistive EquipmentAssistive equipment may be provided to a customer if:
a) the equipment will enable the customer to independently perform his/her ADLs, will result in a decreased need for assistance from another individual in the completion of his/her ADLs, will prevent an anticipated increase in service costs, or will improve the safety of the customer during the completion of his/her ADLs;b) there is an official communication/documentation in the file of Medicaid denial by the Department of Healthcare and Family Services (HFS) for the requested assistive equipment;c) there are no other resources, public or private, that will provide the equipment; andd) the HSP total cost for purchases, rentals, and repairs of all assistive equipment and environmental modifications (89 Ill.
