Section 250.2880 - Client Legal and Human Rightsa) Restraints shall not be used in alcoholism treatment programs except in extreme circumstances. Restraint may be used only as a therapeutic measure to prevent a recipient from causing physical harm to himself or others. In no event shall restraint be utilized to punish or discipline a recipient, nor is restraint to be used as a convenience for the staff.b) Persons who require special care for mental illness, retardation or major physical disability shall not be admitted or retained, unless the program can specifically meet their needs.c) Any restriction by sex, age or geographic area shall be clearly stated and shall be applied to all applicants.d) There shall be a written procedure for determining the need of a client for a medical examination.Ill.
