Section 19-42-129 - Duty of persons who lose, drop, or abandon any floating or sinking object

Should any owner, operator, charterer, agent, or individual, without permission of the harbor master, lose, sink, drop, or abandon any floating or sinking object in or on the navigable waters and shore waters of the State, that person shall immediately notify the harbor master and shall immediately take such action as is necessary for removal of the object. Upon failure on the part of the owner, operator, charterer, agent or individual to remove such object the department will take such actions through federal or commercial channels as are necessary for such removal and will charge all costs incurred by the department in effecting the necessary removal to the owner. The harbor master may require the posting of a bond to assure payment.
