Section 16-303-1 - Scope and purpose(a) This chapter is adopted to assist consumers and business persons by: (1) Defining certain acts and practices which violate section 480-2, Hawaii Revised Statutes;(2) Protecting consumers from unscrupulous individuals and businesses engaging in unfair or deceptive acts or practices; and(3) Encouraging the development and perpetuation of fair consumer sales practices.(b) This chapter shall not apply to the sale of merchandise sold for the purpose of resale in the regular course of business.[Eff 6/19/81] (Auth: HRS § 487-5) (Imp: HRS §§ 480-2, 487-5)
