Section 15-212-118 - Appliances and electrical wiring

All cooking or heating appliances or any other machinery, equipment, utensils, or apparatus which are used by small craft and could be the cause of fire shall be so constructed, installed, wired, situated, maintained, and used so as not to constitute a potential fire hazard. The failure to conform to any statute, rule, regulation, standard, or ordinance affecting fire safety may be considered by the HCDA in determining any violation of this section. Particular attention is directed to the applicable provisions of the state boating rules of the department of land and natural resources. In addition, the approval of any machinery, equipment, utensils, or apparatus by Underwriters' Laboratories, Factory Mutual System, Marine Testing Institute, Inc., or any other nationally recognized electrical testing agency, may be considered by the HCDA in determining compliance with this section. All electrical equipment must be properly grounded.
