Rule 480-13-.07 - Administration of Drugs(1) General. Drugs shall be administered only upon the orders of those members of the medical staff who have been granted staff privileges. Drugs shall be administered by authorized licensed personnel in accordance with policies and procedures specified by the appropriate committee of the facility, under applicable Law and Rules and Regulations, and by usual and customary standards of good medical practice. The Director of Pharmacy shall develop and implement policies and procedures concerning self-administration of medication.(2) Self-administration. Self-administration of drugs by patients shall be permitted only when specifically authorized by the patient's authorized practitioner, provided, however, the patient has been educated and trained in the proper manner of self-administration and there is no risk of harm to the patient.
