An employee who is placed in a lower grade/level position as a result of a reduction in force shall continue to receive his or her current rate of pay for one (1) year.
After the expiration of the salary retention period under § 1817.1, the salary of the employee placed in a lower grade/level position shall be fixed at the appropriate rate of pay for that grade/level, In accordance with the provisions of chapter 12 of this title.
