Buildings that are no longer needed for direct educational purposes, and for which no alternative Public School use or non-public school educational or alternative use is designated, may be declared no longer needed by the Board of Education and released from the control of the Board for use or other disposition by the government of the District of Columbia, as provided by law.
Buildings that are no longer needed for direct educational purposes by the Board of Education, and for which no alternative Public School or non-public school educational or alternative use is designated, and buildings that are retained under the control of the Board of Education for possible future educational use, shall be re- evaluated annually by the Board of Education, pursuant to recommendations from the Superintendent of Schools.
Buildings that are closed by the Board of Education, and for which the Board has determined that a need exists for the land occupied by those buildings, or buildings that have been declared unsafe, shall be designated to be razed.
Any building that has been declared no longer needed by the Board of Education for direct educational purposes, and that has been released by the Board to the jurisdiction and control of the government of the District of Columbia, shall no longer be maintained with public school funds
