After taking proposed action and prior to taking final action on a recommendation to phase out or close a school building, the Board of Education shall hold a special community meeting to receive input and comment from the public. The meetings shall be held in accordance with the provisions of § 400 on "Community Meetings."
If proposed actions to close or phase out more than one (1) school building affect buildings that are located in the same general neighborhood, or special community meetings are held at a central location, these community meetings may be combined.
A specific portion of each combined meeting shall be apportioned to each specific proposed action and the notice of the meeting shall clearly indicate the combined nature of the meeting.
Notice of all special community meetings held pursuant to this section shall be sent to all persons on the appropriate mailing lists, all affected neighborhood schools and community groups, and to the affected Advisory Neighborhood Commission.
The public shall be informed of the proposed action and special community meeting(s) through the press and media.
Special community meetings shall be chaired by the Board member representing the affected community, an at-large member of the Board, the chairperson of the reviewing committee, or an officer of the Board, as designated by the President of the Board.
The results and findings of special community meetings shall be reported to the Board of Education, prior to its taking final action, by the member of the Board chairing the special community meeting.
