The reinstatement of any employee of the Board of Education on authorized leave of absence shall be at the option of the Superintendent or the Superintendent's designee; provided, that such an employee shall be entitled to reinstatement on application in accordance with the rules and procedures governing leave of absence when reinstatement is required by Federal or District law.
