Rule 5-A2810 - TRANSITIONS TO THE LEAST RESTRICTIVE SETTING
2810.1

In accordance with the IDEA requirement of placing students in the least restrictive environment as well as the Placement Act, IEP planning and service delivery by sending LEAs and nonpublic special education schools or programs shall be designed to support a transition of the student to a less restrictive setting when determined appropriate by the IEP team. The nonpublic special education school or program shall ensure that the IEP teams for students enrolled at the school or program consider a student's transition status at least annually as a component of annual IEP review.

When an IEP team member believes that a District of Columbia student is ready for a less restrictive setting, an IEP team meeting shall be convened to discuss a change in placement, consistent with the IDEA.
