Rule 3-1901 - COMMENCEMENT OF THE ADVISORY REFERENDUM PROCESS
1901.1

In order to commence the advisory referendum process, the Council of the District of Columbia shall pass a Resolution stating the proposition to be presented to voters.

1901.2

The Chairman of the Council shall transmit the Resolution to the Board of Elections.

1901.3

The Resolution may or may not specify the following:

(a) The date on which the special election shall be conducted;
(b) The short title of the advisory referendum; and
(c) The summary statement of the proposition that shall appear on the ballot presented to voters.
1901.4

If the Resolution does not specify an election date, the Board shall schedule the vote pursuant to § 1907 of this chapter.

1901.5

If the Resolution does not specify wording for the short title or summary statement, the Board shall formulate such pursuant to § 1904 of this chapter.
